One aspect of septic system care that does not get nearly enough consideration is septic system cover safety. Sometimes the cover, which provides direct access to your septic tank, is buried underground or "below grade". However, in some instances your cover is flush with the ground "at grade". Ensuring your cover is safe is a critical item that should be on your pre-winter checklist. As winter approaches it would be easy to fall into "out of sight – out of mind" and forget about that cover that needs repair or replacement. If your cover is below ground your septic system service provider can verify its integrity during your next service. However, if your system cover is at grade and therefore visible to you take a moment to ensure that the cover is sitting flush and level and does not move at all if you were to step on it. Also visually inspect the cover to ensure there are no cracks or other signs of significant wear. If you have any concerns please contact us and we can get it replaced right away.
