What is Pro-Sept?
Pro-Sept is the first residential septic system program that offers customers protection on their septic system. It helps to eliminate concerns about the possibility of tens of thousands of dollars of repair or replacements costs in the even of a system malfunction.
What does it cover?
If a malfunction occurs, the Pro-Sept Septic System Protection Plan pays up to $25,000 for repair or replacement costs.
Is there a deductible?
There is a $500 deductible per covered loss.
What is the cost?
For existing systems, $225 per year of $675 for three-year warranty. For new installations, $475 for five-year warranty (covers years 2-5, following the 1-year anniversary of the completed installation; manufacturer or installer responsible for first year)
Why do I have to give payment when I don’t know if my system is eligible?
If your system is approved coverage starts immediately. Any systems that aren’t approved will have the original check returned, or if credit card is used the card would not be run.
What if I choose to pay $225 for 3 years & I need to use the warranty for a malfunction?
If you need to use the warranty you must pay the premium in full, then the warranty can be used to remediate if the malfunction is covered.
Are septic systems covered under Homeowner's Insurance policies?
Homeowner's insurance will occasionally provide coverage for the septic tank and main line in the event of a covered peril (e.g. fire, freezing, vandalism), but they do not act like warranties. Since septic systems require maintenance, a homeowner's insurance policy, most likely, will NOT cover a loss related to age or general breakage. Pro-Sept protects the tank, leaching fields and all system components in the event of a system malfunction.
How does a customer apply?
Customer completes an application and has the system inspected and pumped. All information is then forwarded to Pro-Sept for approval. Upon acceptance, a warranty will be issued and directly mailed to the homeowner.
What if my system is not approved?
If your system is not approved EarthCare can attempt to remediate your system to bring it up to standards. Another option, depending on why the system was not approved, is to go on our maintenance program or get your septic system pumped on a schedule depending on your needs.
Is coverage transferable?
Yes, coverage is fully transferable. The homeowner would complete a simple form in order to transfer the coverage, free of charge. After receiving the Change of Homeowner Form, the Pro-Sept Program will re-issue the warranty under the new homeowner's name.
How will I know if there is a problem that needs to be taken care of?
Periodic inspections of the septic system may reveal problems before there are visible signs. Our maintenance program, which is recommended to run in conjunction with Pro-Sept, will alert you to possible malfunctions before they cause damage. The program also includes a pumping just before the 3 year term to assess the system for renewal and any possible repairs.
If there's a problem, whom should the customer call?
The customer should call the Pro-Sept claims center at 877-786-5635 or Pro-Sept's main line at 888-354-0677, as soon as a problem is discovered.
What are the renewal procedures?
Systems must be pumped and a visual inspection performed within 90 days of the renewal date. Invoices for payment will be sent to the customer 30 days prior to renewal date.
What is not covered by Pro-Sept?
Whatever is not considered a malfunction. A malfunction does NOT include negligence, abuse, rust, corrosion, liability to a Third Party, costs incurred in gaining access to or closing assess from a covered item, damage to the physical structure of the residence.
What are the benefits of going through an EarthCare representative vs. dealing directly with Pro-Sept?
EarthCare is a full service septic company, we are capable of all aspects of getting your system evaluated, pumped, and if necessary, remediated. We also offer a maintenance program which offers yearly inspections and pumping at 3 year intervals to comply with Pro-Sept. An EarthCare customer who is on the maintenance program will not have to have a separate open pit inspection to qualify for Pro-Sept, unless there are extenuating circumstances.
